Cuba lecture at Continuum Fine Art

Cuba, Social Context and the Photographic Image

Charles Anselmo
Charles Anselmo • December 30, 2025

Fine art photographer Charles Anselmo will discuss Cuba’s post-revolutionary photographic art. Referencing a vibrant tradition of visual iconography, he will explore Cuba’s unique historical narrative and the role of social context through three distinct generations of Cuban photographers, showing examples from his personal collection.

Since 2000, Anselmo has returned to Cuba more than 70 times to conduct numerous photography workshops, develop collaborative exchanges with Cuban arts organizations, and exhibit his work. He has spoken as Visiting Lecturer at the University of Havana and the San Alejandro Academy of Fine Art, Cuba's oldest art school. On display in the gallery is his exhibit, Memoria Eidética, a retrospective of his large format images from Havana.
